The Bazaar and Luncheon is a one day event on the Wednesday the week prior to Thanksgiving, and is the ECW’s main fund raising event for its outreach programs. The ECW members work during the year on arts and crafts, hand sewing, painting, and other items to be sold at the bazaar. Workshops will be announced in the Eagle. All women are encouraged to participate in projects and help the day of the bazaar.
The Episcopal Church Women
The Episcopal Church Women (ECW) is made up of all the women of St. John’s Episcopal Church. The purpose of the ECW is to unite the women and the diocese through programs of worship, study and service, which will deepen and strengthen their own spiritual lives and lead them into Christian service in the parish, the community, and the world. There are four general meetings of St. John’s ECW held each year. Four guilds which meet monthly serve as important vehicles for the work and spiritual life of the ECW and its members. The ECW has many projects and programs which enhance the life of the parish as well as the greater community, presenting opportunities for participation and fellowship. General meetings, guild meetings, projects and items of interest are announced in the Eagle.
General Meetings are luncheons with a program held in the Parish house the first Monday of October, December and February. There is a charge of $6.00 to cover the cost of the luncheon. The May meeting is a picnic at the home of a parishioner.
St. Anne’s Guild membership is primarily our senior women. This group meets the third Monday of the month for a morning coffee and a special program.
St. Catherine and St. Phebe Guild is composed primarily of business or retired women in their forties and over. The group generally meets at noon the third or fourth Wednesday of each month for lunch and a program either in a member’s home or at church.
St. Mary and St. Martha Guild is a fellowship and support group for younger women, generally under 40. Meetings are announced each month by e-mail and in the Eagle.
The Daughters of the King is an international Episcopal order for laywomen who take a simple vow of prayer and service. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, our vision as Daughters of the King is to know Jesus Christ, to make Him known to others, and to become reflections of God’s love throughout the world.
Members meet each week at 12 noon in the Parish House. The group engages in spoken prayer, quiet prayer and Bible study led by the rector. All women interested in becoming members are welcomed.
