Fellowship

St. John’s offers a wide variety of opportunities for adults to fellowship with one another.  In addition to Sunday morning classes and Bible studies throughout the week, there are also a wide range of volunteer opportunities throughout the church, from altar guild, to brass polishing, to garden work and cooking & serving for special events.

Sunday Breakfast

The best and cheapest breakfast in town! A full breakfast is served between the early service and the 10:30 a.m. service  every Sunday.

  • $5 for adults
  • $2 for children

Heavenly Hosts

On the second Tuesday of each month, adults of St. John’s meet in various parishioners’ homes for a covered dish supper. Bring a dish to share and enjoy the company of other St. John-ians!  Beverages of all types are provided.

Young Adults

In your 20s and 30s and new to Montgomery?

In addition to being our state capital, Montgomery has two airbases. This means that St. John’s regularly has young adults who are members of our parish for a year or two while working for a current government administration or while based at Gunter or Maxwell Airforce Bases. It’s part of our parish culture, and St. John’s Young Adults Supper Club is a community of fellowship who is ready and willing to help new folks make friends and feel at home in Montgomery and at St. John’s.

St. John’s Young Adults’ group is open to all members and friends of St. John’s parish who are in their 20s and 30s (or whose spouses are in their 20s and 30s). Our regular attendees range in age from 20 to just-turned-40, and we have anywhere from a dozen to over 20 folks at each supper club gathering. We’re a mix of singles, married people, and married people with children. Our Supper Club gathers  once a month for dinner and fellowship at the home of one of our young adult households. Food themes vary each month, as well.

Men's Focus

Society is changing. Fast. We are living in strange new times. The tectonic plates beneath our feet are moving. These seismic changes in the culture of Western nations have resulted in all of us having to ask new and piercing questions… Where do I fit in this new world? How can I live with all my responsibilities and still be true to myself? What does it all mean for my life as a worker, a spouse, a friend, a parent, a Christian?

Both sexes live with the legacy of centuries-old expectations of what men and women are and how they behave. For men, in particular, it can be incredibly hard to find the space to think, learn, and talk about the new challenges we face.

Men’s Focus is a forum for learning, growth, and comradeship. The main element of Men’s Focus will be a monthly Saturday morning breakfast at the church, from 8 – 9 a.m. catered by Chappy’s. These breakfasts will feature a speaker on a topic of importance and interest to men, and there will be room for discussion, as well as eating.

If you feel like you would benefit from having an exclusively male forum where you can focus on spiritual, social, and relational growth, then Men’s Focus is for you.  Please join us starting Sept. 21.
