John 3:16 – 21
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but have eternal life. “ John 3:16 is one of the most well known verses in the Bible and I can remember committing it to memory as a small child. As I reflect on this verse today, I realize that it brings the entire gospel into focus. God made the ultimate sacrifice, his only Son, for us. Jesus accepted our punishment and paid the price for our sins so that we may receive the gift of eternal life. We need only to BELIEVE.
My own life experiences have revealed God’s unconditional love for me. It has been through the best and worst of times that I have come to know and believe that He is with me. I fall short and He forgives and still loves me. He gives me strength and hope in times of despair. God truly does for me what I cannot do for myself. To me, this means that I must continue to humbly strive to place my faith, trust, and confidence in him who has so willingly and so unselfishly given the greatest gift of all to me and to all of us.
During this Lenten Season I invite you to unite with me in a conscious effort as I work to renew and strengthen my belief, my trust, and my faith in God and to walk in the light with Jesus Christ. Will you do the same and please join me?
Thanks be to God.
