As I reflect on this reading, I am struck by how Jesus has called each of us to believe and follow Him. I’m sure many of us have questioned how God’s gift could come from Galilee (like the Pharisees) or if Jesus really is the Messiah. But when we stop questioning and decide to believe in Jesus, what are we doing about it? How are we going out into the world and sharing this belief and sharing God’s love with others?
The challenge we all face is whether to believe in Jesus, and if we do, allowing the gift of God’s living water to flow through us. When I think about everything that has happened in the past year, I wonder where God has been. How could God let all of this happen? I am guilty for not stopping to think about what I could do about it. This passage reminds me, that with God, we can make a difference and share the living water. God’s living water flows in all of us and all that we do. During this Lenten season, I pray that we shift our focus and share God’s love with everyone around us, setting aside our differences. May we let God work within each of us in such a way that the living waters are abundant and overflow to others around us.
