Over the years I’ve heard people say, “Live each day as if it were your last.” I think in this passage Paul is telling the Hebrews to live each day as if it were their last so they don’t fall into sin and forget they are of Christ.
In this time of pandemic it’s so important to stay kind. We’re all stressed. Just the process of staying masked, staying out of crowds, staying home is stressful. At the same time there are many who are so isolated they feel forgotten. To feel forgotten is really hard on the elderly. If you have a neighbor or friend who has become a shut-in due to the pandemic, please reach out. A phone call can make all the difference. Consider offering to order groceries for someone who doesn’t use the internet. Kindness is more important than it has ever been.
If you’re feeling isolated yourself remember there are ways to stay connected. St. John ‘s is offering Sunday services on Facebook Live and live streamed on YouTube. Just hearing our beautiful music and the comforting words of Communion are so uplifting. Each weekday morning a member of our clergy are offering Morning Prayer of Facebook Live and each evening a member of the St. John’s is praying Compline, a nighttime prayer order.
Stay safe, my sweet friends, be kind to yourselves and to others. Live life as if today were your last and stay connected to the Lord.
