Loving Spoonfuls

This winter, St. John’s Episcopal Church will offer their parishion-ers Loving Spoonfuls, a signature series of homemade soups, now on sale to benefit the food backpack program at Carver High School.

All soups must be pre-ordered in the Parish House after either Sunday worship service, or by mailing or dropping off your order to St. John’s Church (113 Madison Avenue, 36104, anne@stjohnsmontgomery.org. Your check (or cash) reserves your order. Make checks payable to St. John’s Episcopal Church. Orders must be placed no later than Sunday, February 9th. It will be helpful to us if you place your order early.

Order forms are available in the Parish House and at the reception desk in the church office. Pre-ordered soup will be available for pick up on Sunday February 23rd and March 1st, immediately after church.

Proceeds from the sale of our soups support the Carver Food Back-Pack Program. St. John’s packs & delivers backpacks with food that are distributed every Friday to 30 homeless Carver students who may have no other source of food over the weekend.

 

St. John’s Signature Soup Selections

Chicken & Dumplings: Hearty, yummy, old school goodness! This soup is full of chicken and delicious dumplings in a thick chicken broth base

Sausage, White Bean, and Spinach Soup: this great winter soup has white beans, spinach, along with onions, carrots & celery. The piece de resistance is the Conecuh sausage that makes this soup one of a kind.

Mulligatawny: A curried chicken and rice soup. This traditional soup is light but filling. The soup is flavored with just the right amount of curry; the result is a soup that is mild and not too spicy.

Winter Minestrone: No meat in this one, though it does have a chicken broth base. There are LOTS of great winter vegetables though: butternut squash, carrots, celery, onions, spinach, along with pasta and cannellini beans. Nothing better on a chilly night!
