The Triple Tradition:  Matthew, Mark, and Luke

Women’s Bible Study

Monday mornings 8:30-9:30 am at Candice Frazer’s house
Monday evenings at 6:00 for sips and snacks 6:30-7:30 pm for study at various parishioner’s homes

Starts Monday, September 12, 2016

This course will study the Synoptic Gospels, comparing and contrasting the various stories each writer includes in their story of Jesus.  The Synoptic Gospels are not the only gospels, John is part of our Biblical canon, but there are many non-canonical gospels as well.  We will discuss why particular stories were included and others not as well as what the motivation for each author might have been.  In doing so, we will explore the various audiences the authors hoped to reach and how that might have shaped their message and how the Scriptures were read. Plus, Its just fun to talk about Jesus!    Interested? Email Candice@stjohnsmontgomery.org to register

Men's Group

St. John’s Men’s Group is a community of friendship and lively conversation for all adult men of our parish.  Our regular meeting is every Monday night during the school year at 6pm in St. John’s Library.  We begin with a light dinner, and each week our discussion focuses on readings selected and distributed the week prior by a member of our clergy.  Readings have varied from poetry to current events, from science-fiction to St. Augustine, and are always rooted in the Christian tradition.  We occasionally gather off-site for dinner, trivia, or some other just-for-fun event.  Regular Men’s Group attendees range in age from late 20s to 70s.  To be added to our Men’s Group distribution list, please contact Daniel at daniel@stjohnsmontgomery.org
