Every month St. John’s puts out a request of its parishioners for an in-gathering of supplies. Each month its a different type of supply, intended for a different local charity. One month it will be paper for a local elementary school, another month it will be coats, another month Christmas items, etc.
An in-gathering is a great way to be supportive of various needs in town, and being a good steward of our community.
March 2020 – Mite Boxes for Common Ground
For March, St. John’s is encouraging everyone at St. John’s, both children and adults, to take a mite box and put money in it throughout the month. This year all monies received from the mite boxes will go to Common Ground. Mite boxes can be found in the parish house, in the narthex, and in the sunday school building.
There is a disparity of opportunity for youth in west montgomery
Because of the cyclical and systemic issues that plague impoverished neighborhoods across America – hardships for single-parent households, failing schools, high crime rates, effects from institutional racism – it’s an anomaly for youth in these communities to find long-term success. Working with children (Pre-K through senior year) in the westside of Montgomery, Alabama, Common Ground Montgomery provides developmental programs and camps, and connects them with resources and community mentors.
Please keep your mite box & continue to put money into it. Bring it to church on Eaaster Sunday & turn it in at the collection.
