Signs of the End-a message from the rector

Signs of the End-a message from the rector

- Tuesday, December 9, 2025

This week I learned for certain that we are living in the End Times. We must be. The evidence is overwhelming. ‘Wars, rumors of wars, false messiahs, earthquakes’, and now, Justin Trudeau is officially dating Katy Perry.

And what a handsome couple they make. But really? A former Prime Minister of Canada dating a raunchy, celebrity pop singer? They aren’t the first odd romantic couple, of course. At school when I was studying ‘Death of a Salesman’ my teacher told me that Arthur Miller had married Marilyn Monroe and I seriously thought he was joking. ‘What did they find to talk about?’, I remember wondering.

The Burst of Light that Scatters the Darkness

The Burst of Light that Scatters the Darkness

Most sinful cities in America revealed that...got you listening? And it got me clicking when I saw that headline on a news website this week, as a piece of click bait. It's perfect. If you see this link, you have to click on it, don't you? However pure you consider yourself and however much above such grubby trivia you think you are, your curiosity is going to overpower your good taste.

Well, mine did. So I clicked because I had to know what was number one, and more importantly, whether I've ever lived there before.

Historic Donations Made by ECW Bazaar

Historic Donations Made by ECW Bazaar

Bazaar 2025 was a tremendous success! This was possible due to your donations of time, talents, and treasure.  Countless hours of cooking, pricing, setting up rooms and so much more for this event were noticed and appreciated.  From the bottom of my heart, thank you to each and every one of you!

With all of your hard work and dedication the ECW raised over $32,000 after expenses for Outreach Programs in our community.  This year we will be giving $19,864.86 to Boys & Girls Club of the River Region to fund two new classrooms for their facilities. We will also be making donations of $5,000 to the Friendship Mission, $5,000 to Meals on Wheels, $2,500 to the Grace Episcopal Church Diaper Ministry and $2,500 to St. John's Backpack Program. We will also be sharing a little Christmas Spirit by fulfilling an Angel Tree request.

This is all possible because of YOU!! Thank you!! With a grateful heart - Christine

Needed: Christmas Flower Volunteers

Needed: Christmas Flower Volunteers

As we prepare our church for Christmas, there are many ways to help—no flower-arranging experience required! On Sunday, December 21, following the 10:30 a.m. service, we are seeking volunteers to assist with simple but important tasks: sorting and hanging greenery, organizing wreaths, watering poinsettias, and more. A light lunch will be provided, and the remaining work will be completed by the Flower Guild.

If you have a knack for tying bows, we also need help creating over 30 outdoor wreath bows. Ribbon has been purchased, but as costs for greenery, wreaths, and ribbon continue to rise, you may also choose to support this ministry with a little extra added to your Christmas decoration donation.

If you can help in any way, please text Sarah Spratling at 334-220-1942. Your time, talent, and generosity help make our church a beautiful and sacred space for all this Christmas season.

Special Rector's Forum

Special Rector's Forum

Sunday, December 14, 2025

Join us on Sunday, December 14, at 9:15 a.m. in the Library for a special Rector’s Forum addressing recent developments in global Anglicanism. You may have read about a statement from the Global Anglican Future Conference claiming to have “re-ordered the Anglican Communion,” including rejecting the authority of the Archbishop of Canterbury. What does this mean for the Episcopal Church? Our Rector will guide us through the context, share clear and gracious teaching, and offer honest personal reflections, all with respect for our Anglican brothers and sisters. All are welcome.
