Christian spiritual formation is the process of being conformed to the image of Jesus Christ for the glory of God and for the sake of others (II Corinthians 3:17-18). The focus of spiritual formation is the Holy Spirit, who guides the ongoing journey towards union with God. The response is submission.

St. John’s offers Christian Formation opportunities tailored to adults, youth, and children. The Rector’s Forum is held each Sunday at 9:15 in the Library. This group will discuss scripture and topics related to that day’s sermon.

New Adult Formation Group Starting March 23 in the Library

Sunday mornings at 9:15 in the Library

The Gospel writers believed Jesus’ final words were so vital that they recorded them with accuracy and with context. It’s only right and helpful in our Lenten journey to draw aside and read those final words. When we do we will learn and grow.

Our adult formation classes at 9:15 on Sundays until Easter will be on the theme of Jesus’ Final Words.

March 23: “Father forgive them”
March 30: “Today you’ll be with me in paradise”
April 6: “Why have you forsaken me?”
April 13: “Into your hands I commit my spirit”
Good Friday “I thirst”, “Behold your son… behold your mother”, and “It is finished.”

Living Well through Lent
Sundays at 6 p.m. throughout Lent

There will be a Lenten Reflection Group meeting on Sundays at 6 p.m. from March 9 - April 13 at Marney Garzon's home (2453 E. Cloverdale Park). Books are available for download here.
