Church of the Ascension is looking for tutor-mentors to work with children from low-income families this school year. Each volunteer meets at the church on Wednesday evenings with a student (drawn from 1st through 10th grades) who attends New Beginnings Educational Center—for a group meal, conversation/play, and about an hour of one-on-one school-related work, which can be provided by the program. We ask that each mentor commit to being present for most Wednesday evenings during the school year, except for holidays; some serve one year and others develop longer relationships.
