Anderson Jeremiah was born and raised in Vellore, a South Indian town, in a pastor’s family. After his seminary training at United Theological College in Bangalore, he was ordained as a priest in the Diocese of Vellore, Church of South India (an Anglican Province). Anderson came to Edinburgh to pursue his doctoral research and served in the Scottish Episcopal Church. He then became the first lecturer in World Christianity in the department of Politics, Philosophy and Religion at Lancaster University in the North of England.
Anderson is a Globally recognized Anglican Theologian with interest in Christianity’s engagement in wider society.
Anderson was consecrated as the Bishop of Edmonton in London in 2024. He is married to Revd. Dr. Rebecca Aechtner, a vicar in the Diocese of Blackburn. Rebecca and Anderson have two wonderful daughters and they enjoy serving God as a family.
